Khalil grew up the youngest of six siblings in a close-knit family that valued love, communication, and always showing up for one another. Always a team player growing up, Khalil was active in band (playing trumpet) and sports including football, soccer, and basketball. His football coach in particular played a defining role during this period, teaching him discipline, punctuality, and pride in both academics and attitude—lessons that stuck well beyond the field.

His first passion was in the kitchen, cooking breakfast, especially pancakes and waffles alongside his parents had him considering a culinary career route. That early love for food instilled patience and the belief from his father that “whatever you cook, heat it up slowly.” However, after high school, Khalil went straight into the workforce, joining the electrical union and spending seven years in construction, where he thrived on the curiosity it inspired and the camaraderie.

However, the time came when Khalil wanted a change in his work environment, which brought him to Your 3rd Spot as a technician. It was Khalil’s first job in hospitality, but his team first mentality, natural empathy, consistency, and “make the most of it” attitude have allowed him to thrive in the Y3S culture. 

Throughout his journey at Your 3rd Spot, Khalil has consistently sought opportunities to make an impact beyond the scope of his role. As one of the earliest and most engaged participants in the LEADS Program, he established himself as a dependable and influential leader who balanced accountability with genuine support. He challenged those around him to grow while remaining approachable, encouraging, and invested in their success. Over time, he played a key role in strengthening the Facilities Department by creating systems, developing resources, and coaching team members to perform confidently and effectively, even in his absence. His focus on building sustainable processes, developing others, and fostering team growth has become a defining part of his leadership journey and continues to shape the way he leads today.

Guided by mentors such as Jerry, our Director of Safety, Gaming + Facilities, Khalil learned the importance of attention to detail, operational excellence, and doing things the right way, even when no one is watching. His impact can be seen throughout the department through his contributions to training initiatives, inventory systems, operational improvements, and the culture of recognition he helps foster. Whether mentoring team members, improving processes, or tackling challenges head-on, Khalil consistently leads with humility, curiosity, and a desire to make those around him better.

Today, Khalil's growth has culminated in a milestone for the department as he becomes the first-ever Assistant Facilities Manager at Your 3rd Spot. Having progressed from Technician to LEAD, Senior LEAD, and now into leadership, his journey reflects a commitment to continuous learning, and making a lasting impact on the people and systems around him.

Outside of work, you’ll find Khalil in the gym or spending time helping his parents—staying grounded in the values that have shaped him from the start.
